Come help us restore the dunes at Easton's Beach in Newport! We will be restoring dune habitat by planting American beach grass (Ammophila brevigulata). While this project is scheduled for 11 am to 2 pm, it is ok to come for part of that time, and we may continue working past 2 if we still have plants.
Volunteers will check in at the Exploration Center & Aquarium, 175 Memorial Blvd, Newport, RI.
Please dress for the weather - it is often colder and windier at the beach! You may want to bring your own reusable gloves and knee pads, if you have them. We'll have some snacks and you are welcome to bring a lunch. Please bring your own reusable bottle of water to save the planet! :-)
This is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity, recommended for ages 8+. Volunteers under 16 must participate with a parent, and anyone under 18 must bring a volunteer waiver signed by a parent in order to participate.
If you have questions, or any trouble registering, please contact July Lewis at jlewis@savebay.org. On the day of the event, you can call the Exploration Center & Aquarium at 401-324-6020. Thank you!
