VOLUNTEER IN THE WESTERLY AREA OR YOUR CHOSEN AREA OF RHODE ISLAND!
This is a state-wide program, with 89 nursing homes and 62 assisted living facilities, volunteers are needed to serve in all cities and towns.
The Office of the State Long Term Care Ombudsman is housed in The Alliance for Better Long Term Care. Ombudsmen advocate for residents living in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and those receiving licensed hospice or home care services. Certified Volunteer Ombudsman advocate, educate, and mediate to help resolve issues brought to their attention by residents in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
As an ideal candidate one should exhibit a desire to support and encourage residents to use their own voices as well as advocate for them if they are unable to. Volunteers cannot be currently working in a nursing home, assisted living facility or for a home care or hospice agency. Previous employment in any of these settings is ok. BCI required.
Training is provided and held at a time and location that is convenient to you!
