The Pawtuxet River Authority and Watershed Council invites you to borrow one of our canoes to clean up trash along the banks of the Pawtuxet River from or Crompton Canoe Launch at the Manchester Street Park in West Warwick. We will provide canoe, paddles, life jacket, trash grabbers, buckets, and gloves. Paddlers can launch and fish trash out of the water around the fishing pier and launch area, and then continue to canoe upstream (up to one mile), before returning to where they launched.
This stretch of river is very flat, with minimal flow, so it is great for beginning paddlers. We have six canoes available for free for use, so register early as it is first come, first served canoe availability. Folks who wish to bring their own canoes or kayaks are welcome to join us. All participants must sign a waiver of liability on site, and all must wear a life jacket. We can provide documentation of community service hours if needed.
