Who We Are
The Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale helps community members meet their basic human needs. The Center serves approximately 2,000 residents of Narragansett and South Kingstown, the majority of whom are low-income and experiencing food insecurity. The Center is a member of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
What We Do
The Center is known best for its food pantry, which distributed 280,000 pounds of food in 2017 through monthly pantry visits and deliveries to home bound seniors, as well as weekly school vacation meals and summer produce pick ups.
In addition, the Center operates a host of other programs intended to improve the economic security of households struggling to make ends meet. This includes motivational coaching to improve life skills, navigating education and employment pathways, community health outreach, emergency financial assistance, and free tax assistance.
The Center's thrift store is also a source of free and low-cost items for Jonnycake Center members. The store is also open to the public and provides an important revenue source for general operations.
