We need your help on weekday mornings! Federal Hill House is committed to serving our community of older adults. We offer morning programs like our knitting circle, chair yoga, meditation, health screenings with medical professionals, and other engaging and informative activities. Following these activities, we offer a hot lunch Monday-Wednesday. While many of our seniors would benefit from these services, most do not drive, and public transportation is not always a great option.

Do you have a few hours per week to spare? Do you have a license and your own reliable vehicle?

Our folks would need to be picked up at their homes around 10am and brought to our community room located off of Atwells Avenue in Providence. After lunch, our seniors would need to be picked up around 12:30pm, and brought back home.

If you are over 55, and would like to help, you are eligible to enroll in our AmeriCorps Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). You will become a member of a like-minded network of individuals who seek to improve their communities. AmeriCorps RSVP also provides additional benefits to its members including supplemental insurance, awards for service, and others. We love to celebrate our volunteers because we appreciate the work you do!

The Federal Hill House needs you!

We operate the 2nd and 5th busiest pantries in the state! Two locations located in Providence RI are in need of volunteers to assist clients with shopping, stocking food, and tidying up after pantry is closed!

 Volunteers are needed *Monday through Friday 9am-2pm

*please note that hours of need may vary on Mondays as pantry is not open to the public.

*Under 18 requires parent signature

*Under 16 accompanied by parent/guardian

Would you like to change people's lives?  Do you have a few hours to give from January to April?  If so, we need VITA volunteers.  VITA is the free tax preparation program and among the best ways to help others out of poverty.  No prior knowledge or a love of math is required.  Trainings on 2 Saturdays in January or on line at your convenience.   

Change the world by changing the life of a child.  We are looking for volunteers for our after school program 4-6pm Monday - Friday.  Give a day or give a couple.  We guarantee fun!

Do you like to read?  Do enjoy making stories come to life? Would you like to change a child's life?  If so, this is the place for you!  We are looking for volunteers to join our "Reading is FUN!" program.  Days and hours are flexible and involve reading to preschoolers at our Early Learning Center.

Would you like to change a senior's day? Here is your opportunity!  Our meal site is in urgent need of greeters and support staff.  We are open Monday through Thursday 11am-1pm.  We are looking for volunteers to greet our seniors and to help serve lunch.

The AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program pairs thousands of Americans aged 55 and older with organizations making change in communities across the country. The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is sponsored in the Providence area by the Federal Hill House Association.

We are seeking new and returning volunteers to participate in some exciting programs! Although we have all faced many challenges in these recent times, your help is still needed to enrich your community. We have current and upcoming opportunities in our food pantries, school-age programs, VITA service, community gardens, errand assistance, small home improvement, and many more.
