Spanish Interpreter/Translator:

The MLK has volunteer opportunities available on a short or long-term basis!

Thanks to generous community support, the MLK Community Center in Newport, RI is able to expand our Community Program offerings. We are seeking volunteers who are proficient in Spanish to assist clients at programs and events, translate written pieces, and other Spanish translation projects as needed.

Thanks to generous community support, the MLK Community Center in Newport, Rhode Island now offers a hot breakfast every weekday. We are seeking volunteer cooks/chefs to help with hot breakfast preparation.  SafeServ certified preferred, but anyone with the desire & capacity to prepare hearty meals in batches of 25-50 is welcome.  The MLK Center kitchen is available for prep the day before if desired.  Breakfast is served Monday-Friday from 7:30am-8:30am.  Volunteers arrive to begin set-up at 6:45am.  Volunteer cooks are not expected to cook every day.  This opportunity is for one or two regularly scheduled days of the week, on an ongoing basis, that will be mutually agreed upon between staff and the volunteer.

The MLK Community Center in Newport, Rhode Island is seeking (a) volunteer(s) to help provide basic marketing support to our Marketing & Events Coordinator. Duties include (but are not limited to): basic graphic design work (flyers, using Canva or whatever program you're comfortable with), basic copy writing, basic marketing support (i.e., posting event listings to different media sites, posting press releases to community sites, etc.), online research, data entry, and more as assigned. 

This is great experience for students, or someone looking to add to their portfolio. No marketing experience needed, but copywriting skills, attention to detail, graphic design/artistic ability helpful. There is opportunity for someone with interest in marketing to work closely with and learn from our marketing pro! 

Most (if not all) of this position can be performed completely remotely, but in-person opportunities are available as well, and in-person computer/work station can be provided if preferred.
