Volunteer: Donation Truck Assistant Needed - South County HabitatOur ReStore team is looking for a Donation Truck Assistant Volunteer! Our Truck assistant volunteers ride passenger and take a tour of wonderful Rhode Island while picking up furniture donations with our ReStore truck driver! It’s an awesome way to explore the state, get a workout, and make a big impact, all in one shift. Volunteers in this position are comfortable lifting furniture such as sofas, dressers, tables, etc., with the help of our staff, a hand truck, and our truck's lift gate! Shifts run from 9AM – 2PM, Tuesday to Saturday, and we ask for just one day a week, or biweekly. Requirements: 9-2PM commitment, one day a week or biweeklyComfortable lifting heavier furniture with the help of a staff member (i.e. sofas, dressers, tables, etc.)Must be 18+ to participate.We're currently in need of Thursday and Saturday morning assistants! What you can expect to work on: We serve Washington County and will have construction sites spread all around Southern RI. We are currently working on a new construction duplex project in Westerly. Our team of volunteers complete most of the construction work with the guidance of our construction staff. Training is provided, and you’ll only be asked to do tasks you’re comfortable with. South County Habitat's mission is to bring people together to build homes, community, and hope, creating safe and affordable housing for families in need. Position Duties Include: Follow directions from site leaders to complete assigned tasksFollow safety guidelines and speak up if uncomfortable with a taskLearn and properly use tools as neededDo your best work and clean up at the end of your shiftTasks may include painting, framing, carpentry, finish work, landscaping, and moreClosed-toe shoes are requiredSuggestions: Dress in clothes you don't mind getting dirtyDress for weather conditions (rain, cold, heat)Bring a reusable water bottle and lunchWe will provide you with all tools and safety equipment for the dayVolunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
