Make a Difference for Blood Donors

Help create a positive and welcoming experience for blood donors! As a Volunteer Café Assistant, you’ll support donors after their donation by serving refreshments, offering appreciation for their generosity, and helping monitor donor well-being in the recovery area.

Volunteers are needed at donor centers across Rhode Island and at mobile blood drives hosted at businesses, community organizations, colleges, and high schools throughout Rhode Island and the South Coast of Massachusetts.

Volunteer Responsibilities Set up and/or take down the donor café area Offer beverages and snacks to blood donors Replenish and stock café supplies Observe donors for signs of slow recovery or reactions Alert staff immediately if a donor experiences a reaction Thank donors for their time and lifesaving contribution Keep the café area clean, organized, and welcoming Qualifications

Volunteers should be:

At least 16 years oldFriendly and welcoming Comfortable interacting with the public Dependable and attentive Able to follow staff instructions and safety proceduresAble to successfully complete criminal background checkComfortable using a smartphone or app-based scheduling and reporting system Why Volunteer?

Every blood donation has the potential to save a life—but only if it reaches the laboratory quickly and safely. As a Volunteer Driver, you'll play a vital role in our lifesaving mission by transporting blood products from donor centers and community blood drives to the Rhode Island Blood Center's Providence Laboratory.

If you enjoy driving, have a reliable vehicle, and want to make a meaningful impact in your community, this is a rewarding opportunity to help patients in need.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Pick up boxed blood products from donor centers and community blood drives

Safely transport blood products to the Rhode Island Blood Center Providence Laboratory

Occasionally deliver supplies from the Providence Donor Center to donor centers or blood drives

Record delivery information with laboratory staff

Submit a brief report after each route using our volunteer management system

Qualifications

We're looking for volunteers who:

Are at least 21 years old

Have a valid driver's license

Maintain current vehicle registration and auto insurance

Can successfully complete motor vehicle and criminal background checks

Can safely operate a vehicle in changing road and weather conditions

Can lift up to 35 pounds

Have strong customer service skills

Are dependable, adaptable, and able to follow schedules and directions

Are comfortable using a smartphone or app-based scheduling system
