Audubon Society Of Rhode Island

Audubon is one of the largest private landowners in the state, maintaining and managing a 9,500-acre refuge system, which includes nearly 30 miles of trails for public use that form the state's largest wildlife refuge system.  The Society teaches about 15,000 school children annually - at schools and Audubon sites - with the primary focus being at the award-winning Environmental Education Center in Bristol.  The Environmental Education Center houses modern exhibits and the state's largest public aquarium. Located on a breathtaking wildlife refuge, rolling from upland meadows to the Narragansett Bay shore, the Center attracts thousands of visitors yearly.

The Audubon Society of RI is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1897 and is dedicated to statewide environmental education, conservation and advocacy. With 17,000 members and supporters, the Audubon Society of Rhode Island maintains almost 9,500 acres of wildlife habitat and many miles of beautiful hiking trails.

More than 33,000 students from area schools participate annually in our educational programs. A voice in statewide ecological issues, the Society acts to preserve and protect Rhode Island's natural heritage. Volunteers at our headquarters in Smithfield, our Environmental Education Center in Bristol, and our wildlife refuges all over the state help us every day to connect people with nature.
