Reach Out and Read Rhode Island

Reach Out and Read Rhode Island is a nonprofit that champions the positive effects of reading daily and engaging in other language-rich activities with young children. Reading together promotes healthy brain development, furthers language acquisition, and helps families build meaningful bonds.

Beginning at the first pediatric visit through age five, pediatric health care providers advise parents and caregivers to read aloud every day at bedtime. To encourage families to incorporate book reading into their evening routine, a new developmentally- and language-appropriate book is provided at every checkup. We currently partner with 70 medical sites across the state serving more than 50,000 children per year.
