Pawtuxet River Authority & Watershed Council

Who We Are

We are an all-volunteer organization with members mainly from Cranston, Coventry, West Warwick, Warwick and Scituate, but also include other surrounding towns. Our mission is to restore, conserve and protect land and waterways within the watershed; to enhance water quality and wildlife habitats; to create opportunities for public passive recreation (walking, hiking, running, biking, paddling etc) and appreciation of the watershed’s natural resources; and to advance public education as to the environmental importance, cultural and historic significance of the Pawtuxet River and its watershed.

What We Do

We own and maintain public conservation land throughout the watershed (Warwick, Cranston, West Warwick, Scituate, and Coventry) used for hiking, canoe and kayak launches, as well as handicapped accessible fishing piers.

We often have clean-ups at these properties, or help other local groups to do clean-ups, and also host free events at our locations, such as group hikes, group paddles, bird watching, fishing derbies (or lessons), yoga classes, or crafting opportunities.

We are currently working to pull together a 5k race in November and are seeking volunteers with experience related to marketing, volunteer recruitment and management, website development, donor development, or outreach/social posting.
