Who We Are
Children’s Friend is a non-profit organization founded in 1834 dedicated to improving the well-being and healthy development of Rhode Island’s most vulnerable young children. We reach every corner of the state with our comprehensive and integrated advocacy, guidance, assistance, education, prevention, and intervention services. In everything we do, our expertise is passionately focused on elevating, empowering, and strengthening children and families — and preparing them to succeed in all facets of life.
What We Do
Children's Friend offers a wide range of services that support early childhood development, family stability, and community health. We provide early intervention programs, family counseling, adoption and foster care services, and assistance for families facing economic hardship. We also operate Head Start and Early Head Start programs, focusing on school readiness and child development for children from birth to age 5. Alongside this, we work closely with families to build stronger foundations for children to thrive in safe, supportive environments.
