Who We Are
Providence Public Library inspires Rhode Islanders to be lifelong learners by engaging their curiosity and offering access to extraordinary experiences, resources, and ideas. The Library strives to be a supportive, welcoming environment where learners at any skill level have opportunities to connect and access information and technology that enable them to achieve their goals. PPL's Education Department offers free and accessible learning opportunities for all ages, at our home in downtown Providence and at partner libraries and agencies around the state.
What We Do
Based at PPL, Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative (RIFLI) is a free, nationally recognized ESL, citizenship preparation, workforce development and family literacy program for adults based at public libraries throughout Rhode Island.
RIFLI offers English as a Second Language (ESL), citizenship preparation and computer instruction as well as children’s programming, student resource support and links to library resources and services.
